New anti legionella electronic taps and mixers from Douglas Delabie

Each year in the UK, there are around 200-250 recorded cases of Legionnaire's Disease and a growing awareness of the need to address MRSA and other cross contamination infections prevalent in healthcare and other public heath sectors.

Over the last few years, we have seen the increased use of non touch electronic basin taps and mixers to address the needs for improved hygiene and water efficiency in commercial applications.

Tempomatic 3 electronic taps and mixers from Douglas Delabie, specialist supplier of thermostatic control solutions and accessories, now incorporate an 'anti-legionella automatic flush device' preventing water stagnation and bacteria development in the supply pipes. The device activates an automatic 45 seconds 'duty flush' cycle, each 24 hours after the last use.

Designed for public and commercial applications, Tempomatic 3 products provides automatic shut off after hands are removed and with a pre-set flow rate of 5 l/min, enables water savings of up to 80% compared with traditional mixers & taps.

With electronic control, solenoid valve and 6V Lithium batteries all built inside the tap body, Tempomatic 3 products are easy to install “ flexible hoses connect the water inlets and complete the installation, without the need for further adjustment. The top-located sensor allows optimised detection of hands and a pictogram on the top maintenance cover ensures easy understanding of function.

Servicing and maintenance are simple, batteries have an average service life of 350,000 cycles (3 to 5 years) and can be replaced, without isolating the water supply. The integrated solenoid valve can also be serviced from the top.

An infrared sensor mounted at the top of the solid brass body monitors presence, allowing the water to flow as soon as hands approach the sensor.

When the hands are removed, water stops automatically.

On the basin mixer, the water temperature is user-adjustable with a manual selector lever (the company advises that a TMV “ thermostatic mixing valve - should always be used to provide a safe Hot water temperature and protect building users from scalding).

Designed for ease of installation - single trade fix - Tempomatic 3 incorporates sophisticated electronics and solenoid valves and long life lithium batteries (average life 350 ,000 operations - normally 3 to 5 years), all integrated within the head works. No other power source is required. Battery replacement is simple - by accessing a top maintenance cover locked by two concealed screws.

All Tempomatic 3 taps and mixers have an auto-shut of two seconds - the flow stops two seconds after hands are removed to rinse basin, reducing housekeeping time.
